Materials
5 pcs .25 inch underlayment (6"x 36")
3 pcs 1x3 @ 28" inches long
creme paint with primer
25- .75 inch screws
3 d-ring hangers
glue dots- REMOVABLE kind
photos (laminated in 5mil)
Tools
drill motor with phillips driver bit
foam paint roller
yard stick or tape measure
sand paper or orbital sander with 60 grit
Prepare wood by sanding all surfaces and edges till smooth. Paint one side of each board and all edges. When dry, lay out the 3 pcs of 1x3 and lay the 5 pieces of underlayment on top of the 1x3. (this is what it would look like from the bottom). Measure margin from edges so all are even.
From the top side, use drill motor to begin screwing the underlayment to the 1x3's with 2 screws in each end of 6x36 pieces. Sink the screws so the head is slightly below the surface.
Use a penny as a spacer between each piece.
Continue each row till all pieces are attached. When dry, sand spackled areas and paint. When dry, sand all surfaces lightly and apply second coat of paint.
After paint dries, attach a D-ring hanger to each 1x3. Make sure they are all the same distance from the top edge.

Use glue dots to attach photos to board. I also had the photos laminated in 5 mil to help protect them if I needed to wipe them off, it also provides a little stability from curling. There is such a thing a removable dots, which I used when I rearranged the board. They feel just as sticky, I'll have to update later as to whether they are easier to remove.
I learned that the permanent dots will sometimes remove paint and wood. There were only 2 spots on the whole board where this happened when taking all the photos off to add some.
I cut the strip of glue dots in half so it wouldn't be too sticky if I needed to rearrange the board. I have never tried these, so hopefully they are semi-permanent if I decide to rearrange photos.
This turned out so great, I really love it.
